Scene Camera

SR Research is pleased to announce the latest exciting development for the EyeLink II eye tracker; the EyeLink II Scene Camera option. With the Scene Camera option, EyeLink II users can track gaze position on a real world scene video being captured from a head mounted scene camera.

Now researchers can purchase a single eye tracker that offers the highest quality computer based eye tracking and scene camera eye tracking all in one package!

Key Features
Cyclopean overlay view which uses binocular recording data to provide a single point of gaze representation.
Accurate gaze video overlay on head mounted colour scene camera video (30 frames per second, 60 fields per second).
Amazing tolerance to external / varying light sources compared to mirror based systems.
Save scene - gaze overlay to any NTSC recording device supporting S-Video or composite (RCA) input.
Eye data is recorded at 250Hz. Unlimited head movements.
Use of EyeLink II's binocular recording capabilities to correct for horizontal and vertical parallax errors when the participant is looking at non calibrated viewing distances. This offers a significant accuracy advantage over some of the other scene camera eye trackers available.
Synchronised audio input support

The scene camera option includes
Modified EyeLink II tracker application All necessary cabling
Video overlay device for displaying gaze position on scene camera video Scene Camera and mounting for EyeLink II headband
Analog to DV fire wire converter SceneLink video recording/playback application

SceneLink
Windows based application allows users to Record and Playback the real world video image being captured from the head mounted scene camera. The main features of this application are:

Control scene camera setup, calibration, validation and depth correction Dynamically change cursor type
Real-time gaze overlay preview during recording Control playback speed
Time Code integration mechanism provides millisecond synchronization accuracy between the scene video and eye data Save complete merged file as a separate AVI
Gaze cursor positioning is generated from merging EyeLink Data File with AVI file during playback Plot x,y position for either left eye, right eye or cyclopean view

Version Compatibility: EyeLink II

SR Research offers either a colour or black and white camera option, with either a 72 or 95 diagonal degree field of view lens. The base scene camera option includes one camera of your choice. You may purchase additional camera's if desired.

The demo video was recorded when tracking both eyes in the 250 Hz pupil-CR tracking mode. We then combine the data from both eyes to give a single gaze position indicator that corrects for horizontal and vertical parallax issues at non calibrated depths. This has the advantage of a greater range of accuracy for the scene camera overlay.

For Windows users, you can download a 1 minute demo as a .wmv file. You will need the most recent version of the Microsoft Media player. They can be downloaded and installed from Microsoft.

IMPORTANT: The demo files were originally recorded at 720x480, 30fps. The resolution of these files has been reduced to allow for faster download times and does NOT reflect the video quality when initially saved.
